Prior to our first meeting together I afford you the opportunity to discuss your learning needs with me. I then prepare the lesson accordingly. The course content is as different as the learners are themselves. Because of the Corona pandemic lessons take place exclusively online. My customers often prefer to have one-to-one sessions because their needs can be better catered for but of course I always teach small groups of people when the language level is relatively homogenous. I offer courses ranging from A1 to C2 of the Common European Framework of Languages (CEF) i.e. from beginner to native speaker level.
In almost every course I teach participants tell me that speaking is what they want to practice most. Many people with a good knowledge of English still feel inhibited when they speak so I do my utmost to get people talking. As the trainer I always have any number of ideas on how to do this and I am happy when participants come up with suggestions of their own. Short texts are used to get beginners talking and as people begin to enjoy speaking more freely many topics such as day-to-day politics, literature, art, the family, hobbies, travel etc are added to the list. In short, any topic that gets people talking is welcome.
More and more people are asking me to help them prepare themselves for job interviews. Increasingly, participants are expected to conduct the interview partly or entirely in English. The online coaching helps these people to cope better with a situation that is indeed a big challenge.
